Tatura Remembrance Day ceremony

By Ilias Bakalla

About 100 people gathered at Mactier Gardens in Tatura for Remembrance Day yesterday.

Speakers included the Tatura RSL president Rod Schubert and returned serviceman Mark Sommers who served in Afghanistan and Sudan.

“It means a lot to remember past family members that have been in wars,” Mr Sommers said.

Rob Mathieson was the master of ceremonies while wreaths were laid by the Country Women's Association, Greater Shepparton City Council, Member for Northern Victoria Wendy Lovell, Tatura RSL and the Tatura and Sacred Heart primary schools.

Mr Schubert said it was important to remember those who had made the ultimate sacrifice.
