Tat Chat: Merrigum Bowls

By Laura Briggs

It was good to see Graeme Hubble back from up north; he, Joe Chant and Carmen Quattrocchi were the winners of the Thursday triples.

Thanks to all the boys for their help in preparing the club rooms for the Lions' handover function.

On Friday night we had the Lions' handover and I must thank Lee Chant, Rob and Kerry Dennis and Carmen and Bernadette Quattrocchi for their great work during the preparation and serving of the delightful meal. For such a small group you should be really pleased with the results of all your hard work. Special thanks also to Maureen Shepherd for supplying the ingredients.

Maureen is a very busy lady; she went to the Billy Joel concert on Friday night and then got up at 4 am on Saturday morning to catch the bus to Sydney, only to see her beloved Bulldogs come off the ground with their tails between their legs.

The opening day will be on Sunday, September 22 at 1pm at the club. Please wear your uniform and bring something for afternoon tea, there is no cost for this special day. Try to have your names in by 12.45pm so the match committee can carry out the draw.

We realise it will clash with something, but time is running out and we need to be ready for Tuesday, October 1, when the Tuesday pennant begins.

Saturday pennant begins on October 19, and 60-and-Over begins on Wednesday, September 18. The 60-and-Over will be run by Peter Hoare and Sparks, so contact them if you need any more information.

The next pokies trip is to Tocumwal on Sunday, October 6, and the bus will leave Kyabram at 9am and Merrigum at 9.15am. Get in early as the bus is filling fast.
