Hill Top womens golf

By Tatura Guardian

The Doris Chambers Foursomes event sponsored by Tatura Post Office was played in sunny conditions after a frosty start.

Mandy McGrath, partnered by relatively new golfer Linda O’Shannessy, tested their skills in this sometimes difficult game to play.

Mandy and Linda had the best score of the day with 37 points, winning them the Doris Chambers Foursome event, and giving them the opportunity to play in the final at Sanctuary Lakes Course on October 11.

Runners-up were Joan Hill and Gail Meneilly with 36 points.

Ball winners: Francie Mark and Robyn Downs with 33 points.

Nearest-the-pins: Gallery Café third and Café Alofa ninth: Liz Mulcahy; Tatura Hot Bread sixth: Terri Wangeman; One4One Café 14th: Robyn Downs.

Nine-hold competition: Joyce Tavener scored two balls to add to her collection for her win, while Helen Williams was runner-up and won one ball.

Golden Putter Competition: Sheryl Curran didn’t have a good day putting out on the course on Wednesday, but when practising likes to go for the long putts, which paid off as she lined up the long putt to see it drop in the hole, winning her the jackpot.

Wednesday’s event: Stableford. Sponsored by Trish Warnett, Kath Flanagan Teams, secret draw for teams.
