The community will be treated to a night of easy listening and tuneful jazz from Shepparton trio Just the Three of Us this weekend.
Brazil, Broadway and the Blues will open the doors to St Paul’s Lutheran Church on Saturday, with the trio performing a number of songs including Julie London’s Bye Bye Blackbird and Astrud Gilberto’s The Girl From Ipanema.
Group member Brian Matthews said the concert would run for about 1 hours, followed by a light supper.
‘‘One of the great things about the night will be the venue itself, it has great comfortable seating and great acoustics,’’ he said.
The group of three include Wade Gregory on piano, Rachael Howard on vocals and Mr Matthews on saxophone.
‘‘We really do enjoy playing together, we seem to be very compatible with a lot easy interplay and easy communication,’’ Mr Matthews said.
‘‘We’re very lucky to get the chance to play at the church and Wade will be playing their Yamaha grand piano.’’
Playing a mix of classic jazz songs, Mr Matthews said the audience would be able to recognise the tunes.
‘‘We hope to inspire the younger generation as well as dedicated jazz fans with our sounds,’’ he said.
Just the Three of Us will present Brazil, Broadway and the Blues on Saturday, May 11, from 7.30pm at St Paul’s Lutheran Church, 54 Poplar Ave, Shepparton.
Tickets are available at the door from $20 for adults, $15 for concession and $10 for anyone under the age of 25.
