Make sure you buy your raffle tickets

The Lions Club of Tatura is doing its part in raising funds for the Good Friday Appeal.

Good Friday Appeal area manager David Moreton said each year many members of the Tatura community got on board with supporting the not-for-profit charity that raised money to enable The Royal Children’s Hospital to provide care for Australian children.

Starting with the annual Easter egg raffle hosted by the Lions Club of Tatura, Mr Moreton said many community members had already visited the stand in Hogan St during the past week to purchase their tickets.

With tickets selling at $2 with a mega hamper full of chocolatey goodies up for grabs, Mr Moreton said the raffle was a great way to raise funds.

He said in support of the Good Friday Appeal, the Tatura Fire Brigade, State Emergency Service, Hilltop Golf Club and various businesses had become involved by fundraising in unique ways.

‘‘The SES have got on board and will go down all the streets making plenty of noise to give people the opportunity to come out and donate,’’ he said.

‘‘So we would encourage anyone if they hear them to get out, meet them and kindly donate.’’

Mr Moreton, who has been involved for more than 40 years, said the Lions Club began the annual Easter egg raffle in 1975.

Having co-ordinated the fundraising events for some time, he said this year would be the last in his role before he would pass the baton on to Lions Club member Helen Hoskin.

Mr Moreton said anyone who had missed out on purchasing raffle tickets would have the opportunity to do so at the Tatura Fire Station on Good Friday until about 3pm, when the raffle would be drawn.

Mr Moreton thanked Tatura community members for their generosity in supporting such a worthy cause.
