The Sacred Heart Primary School oval was a sea of colour at last Thursday’s Athletics Day.
Teachers and families let out cheers all round as students competed in a number of events spread across the oval.
Deputy principal Matt Cameron said the day overall was a huge success with ideal weather conditions and energetic students.
‘‘Two-hundred and twenty students participated in a wide range of field events during the morning session and then followed up with a fantastic twilight running event,’’ he said.
‘‘Parents, including those who couldn’t make the morning session, grandparents and friends lined the track and very enthusiastically cheered on all the students as they ran down the running track.’’
He said the Athletics Day would not have been complete without the race for up and coming students of the school.
‘‘The highlight of the night is always the toddler race and this year was no exception.’’
‘‘Toddlers as young as two charged down the track to rapturous applause, all winning a ribbon at the end.’’
