Unexpected recognition

By Laura Briggs

Sacred Heart Primary School started out the school year with an all-school assembly on Friday.

One student in particular who was given an unexpected surprise during the assembly was year 3 student Ebony Worm.

Ebony was selected as one of 30 students from across the country to receive a NAIDOC Excellence Medal through the NAIDOC Week School Initiative Program that her school participated in last year.

The program encourages students to think about Indigenous history, culture and society while completing a project of their choice.

Ebony said she remembered doing a drawing as part of the initiative.

School principal Pauline Hindson said she was delighted to present Ebony with her medal and to celebrate her achievements together as a school.
