The Tatura and District Australia Day Committee is gearing up for the 2019 Australia Day Celebration and is asking all locals to consider who they would like to nominate.
The categories are: Australia Day Citizen of the Year — Tatura/Greater Shepparton; Australia Day Young Citizen of the Year — Tatura/Greater Shepparton; Australia Day Community Event of the Year; Australia Day Senior Citizen of the Year — Tatura/Greater Shepparton; Australia Day Sports Award; Australia Day Academic Award.
‘‘The committee were delighted with the enormous support that the local residents gave to the 2018 event and are looking forward to welcoming everybody to next year’s celebration,’’ committee secretary Rod Schubert said.
The 2019 ceremony will again be held at the Italian Social Club Rooms, 45 Martin St, Tatura, and will commence from 8.30am with a free sausage sizzle.
Morning tea will be available following the 11am completion of the program.
‘‘There is still time to nominate a worthy person for an Australia Day award. It is a wonderful way to recognise our local residents who have contributed substantially to our local community,’’ Mr Schubert said.
Nomination forms are available at Tatura Newsagency, Tatura Pharmacy and Tatura Community House. Nominations must be returned by 4.30pm on Wednesday, November 21.
