The punters were back for the annual Melbourne Cup Day lunch in Tatura last week, dressed to the nines with bubbles to share.
Primarily run by the Hill Top Golf and Country Club women’s golf committee, this year the female bowlers contributed to the celebration by putting together the raffles for the day.
‘‘The lady bowlers have come into it for the last couple of years to help us out, which is great,’’ committee captain Terri Wangeman said.
The club celebrated the event with its new chef, who provided nibbles to start and a two-course lunch.
‘‘We’re all really excited to have our new chef this year because he’s really good and the food’s a little bit fancy in the spirit of Melbourne Cup Day,’’ the club’s Geraldine Pollard said.
More than 80 people attended the luncheon and enjoyed watching the race on the big screen.
