Tatura Community House will receive neighbourhood house funding as part of the Victorian State budget announced on Tuesday, May 1.
A $21.8 million investment was made across the state’s neighbourhood house network with an extra 76700 funded hours to be delivered each year.
The Tatura centre will see funded hours increase from 20 to 25 hours a week.
‘‘It will ensure neighbourhood houses can continue to provide the vital childcare, employment, training and volunteering services people need,’’ a statement from Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes’ office said.
‘‘We said we’d deliver for neighbourhood houses and this budget provides the biggest increase to co-ordination hours ever,’’ Ms Symes said.
Neighbourhood houses were ‘‘the heart of any community, including here in northern Victoria,’’ she said.
