Finesse Osteopathy has welcomed Catherine Burns as the team’s newest osteopath.
After completing her studies in Melbourne, Dr Burns began working in her field before deciding to make a tree change.
‘‘I wanted to experience what life was like in the country,’’ Dr Burns said.
‘‘I was looking for somewhere small, but not too small.’’
Dr Burns has a keen interest in treating lower-back pain, headaches and sports injuries.
After working as a senior sports trainer in the Eastern Football League, she has become well acquainted with all aspects of an injury from diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation.
After two weeks of working in Tatura, Dr Burns has been delighted by the welcoming nature of the town and her patients.
‘‘Everyone has been really friendly and nice,’’ she said.
Working in Tatura on Thursdays and Fridays, she has also enjoyed the variety of work.
‘‘Common complaints here range from sports and physical job related injuries, to desk related soreness,’’ she said.
Dr Burns feels it’s important to help develop skills to self-manage and is passionate about developing individualised plans to achieve health goals.
‘‘You don’t need a referral to come and see us,’’ Dr Burns said.
‘‘You’re also often entitled to private health rebates and potentially Medicare rebates if you are referred from a GP for complex or chronic injuries.’’
