GSCC (Neighbourhood) officer Josh Lee and Merrigum resident John Bailey discuss the Merrigum Community Plan 5 Year Review on Sunday, March 18.

Plans for a 'Splash Park' at the Merrigum pool have been approved, delighting local residents.

On Sunday, March 18 Merrigum hosted a town meeting at Judd Park to review and complete a new five-year town plan.

More than 25 people discussed what they wanted to see for Merrigum and for the first time residents got a sneak peak at the mock drawings for the upcoming splash park.

The Merrigum Community Group has rallied for years to secure funding for Merrigum’s first ever splash park to be located within the Merrigum Pool precinct.

Funds have been raised from annual town garage sales, pool parties, sausage sizzles and left-over skate park funding.

Merrigum Community Group has raised more than $10000 towards the $290000 Splash Park that will see not just locals but visitors from neighbouring towns use the amenities.

The project has also received $200000 from the state government and $80000 from Greater Shepparton City Council.

The Merrigum Community Group is a small committee that meets on the third Monday of each month at the Merrigum Senior Citizens Centre.
