A young drug addict who committed dozens of burglaries across Greater Shepparton has been jailed for almost five years.
Joshua Bouvac, 22, was arrested in June last year after a police manhunt at Toolamba.
Bouvac, who was on bail at the time, targeted rural homes and businesses in the Shepparton area during his crime spree between April and June, and he later pleaded guilty to more than 60 charges.
The thefts ranged from break-ins to thefts of industrial machinery, cash, guns, cars, tools and wedding rings.
At the time of his arrest, the total value of all items allegedly stolen was more than $100000.
He was also accused of using methamphetamines during the time of the crimes, as well as using money and goods that were the proceeds of crime.
‘‘This crime spree was serious offending committed on ordinary, hardworking and vulnerable home owners and business owners,’’ Victorian County Court Judge Gerard Mullaly said.
Bouvac was sentenced to four years and eight months in prison.
