This week is a very busy time for GV Bowls Club with the Victorian Open being held from Saturday to next Friday.
Hill Top has several entries in a number of different sections. It will compete in four days of rounds, with the finals on Thursday and Friday to be held at Shepparton Park.
Hill Top’s Di Downie and Lyn Nicholson and Jeanette Overall and Louise Hicks are entered in the pairs, while Jeanette Overall will compete in the triples with former member Sue Tyson and her friend. Di and Trevor Downie, Lyn and Laurie Nicholson and Jock and Louise Hicks will represent the club in the mixed pairs.
The men representatives are Justin Spedding and Andrew Cross, Jock Hicks and Jeff McNaughton, Trevor Downie and Laurie Nicholson and David Hicks and Ray Sellwood in the pairs, while in the triples it is Jock, Justin and Shorty. Wishing all players all the best.
Last Tuesday saw the round before the Vic Open, with division one having a great win over Shepparton Park 2 by one shot.
Jenny Hill defeated Maria Warner 24-18, Lorna Winter was defeated by Jeanette Overall 15-25 and Marg. Stibbard defeated Di Downie 27-24.
Division two had a great tussle with Avenel, which is in second place on the ladder, and only went down by six shots. Sue Nihill was defeated by P. Pedder 18-20, Glenda Smith lost to J. Furletti and Robyn Downs was defeated by G. Kensworthy 16-19.
Division four had a great away win over top side Merrigum. M. Shepherd lost to Lenore Taylor 16-20, Lee Chant lost to Chris Popple 23-28 and Betty Durston and Carol Firmer had a draw with 24 shots each.
Sixty and over was cancelled due to the heavy rain. Hill Top travelled to Murchison without any luck.
Next Tuesday Hill Top plays Mooroopna Golf at home, division two travels across town to Tatura and division four plays Euroa at home.
