Students unite in song

Students at Sacred Heart Primary School enjoyed participating in the Music: Count Us In event.

Students at Tatura’s Sacred Heart School recently participated in a huge Australian initiative where students across the country sing the same song, on the same day, at the same time.

The ‘‘Music: Count Us In’’ initiative is an annual event that advocates for and celebrates music in Australian schools.

Sacred Heart School students sang on the national Celebration Day on Thursday, November 2, where students all around the country sang this year’s song Shine Together.

The Program Song was collaboratively written by five very lucky students from across Australia who worked in with program ambassador John Foreman OAM, and program mentor Taylor Henderson.

‘‘Songs are our stories and Australian songs define our unique culture,’’ Mr Henderson said.

Sacred Heart School principal Pauline Hindson said the students watched the live feed of the event from Federation Square.

‘‘We then sang the song with the rest of the students from across Australia,’’ she said.
