Tatura’s annual bike and charity ride has raised more than $100000 this year as the event celebrated its 10th birthday.
About 300 competitors participated in the Tatura 200 Charity Bike Ride and Walk despite intermittent bouts of rainfall.
Organiser Georgia Odgers said it was a really good day out where cyclists rode a variety of distances, with the longest length being the 200km ride.
She said a private function was held on Friday evening to celebrate the milestone year with the event raising $750000 in total since its inception.
This year’s event once again supported the VincentCare Victoria Hume Community Hub through Marian Community, an organisation that supports women and children affected by domestic violence.
The event will also provide funding towards The Community Fund Goulburn Valley’s Education Lift Off Scholarships, Tatura Walks and Rides Group, Give Me 5 For Kids, FamilyCares Sporting Chance program, Teen Challenge and a number of service organisations.
Ms Odgers said she would like to thank the sponsors, in particular diamond sponsors Tatura Milk Industries and Bega Cheese Limited.
‘‘We also had over 60 volunteers from various organisations,’’ she said.
The event was held from 6.30am to 5pm on Saturday, October 28, with riders starting and finishing at the Tatura Italian Social Club.
