Students at Sacred Heart Primary School in Tatura spent last week travelling to Shepparton to take part in its annual swimming program as well as celebrating Children’s Week.
The swimming program, held at Aquamoves in Shepparton, saw the children enjoy lessons while developing their skills, according to principal Pauline Hindson.
‘‘A very important component of the program is an awareness of water safety, which is vital for children in our area with ready access to water,’’ she said.
Ms Hindson said as part of Children’s Week the Year 6 Leadership Team organised some fun lunchtime activities for the school.
‘‘They brought out some of the old-fashioned games, such as elastics, while others enjoyed chalk drawing, hoop relays and skittles,’’ she said.
‘‘This year, the focus of Children’s Week was on education and the power it has to transform lives.
‘‘It is a celebration of children’s rights, talents and citizenship and includes the celebration of Universal Children’s Day, which was on Wednesday, October 25.’’
