Tatura bowls

October 12, 2017

Tatura bowlers are hoping to make amends for their loss in round one.

The first round of mid-week pennant resulted in a loss, so the club hopes this Tuesday brings a better result at home.

Last Friday night was the first monthly club dinner and an enjoyable, friendly night was had by all.

Joyce and Graham Andrus and Darryn Carpenter and Debbie were welcomed to their first club dinner.

The members’ monthly draw went to Dot Best, who was busy in the kitchen, so next month it is back to $50. Well done, Dot.

The over 60s will be played at Rushworth this week. The team is on the notice board.

Saturday saw a roll-up of 70 players for a pre-pennant practice match between Tatura and Hill Top.

What a fantastic, competitive, social day it was.

After play there was a barbecue and Gary Russell and Ken Cornell ran a raffle resulting in eight lucky winners.

A check of the scorecards showed a very close result, so Gary declared it a draw, but the day was a win for both clubs.

The club thanks Thomas Butchers for the sausages.

This will now definitely be an annual pre-pennant event.

Tomorrow and Thursday there will be women’s Goulburn Valley Bowls Association events with a 9.15am roll-up for a 9.30am start each day.

Volunteers for setting up and helping on both days are most welcome.

There will be a club pennant practice match next Saturday at 1pm for all members. Put your names on the notice board. The next monthly dinner is on November 3. Cost is $10 for members and social and $15 for non-members.

For catering, there is a list up for the Christmas dinner, which will be on Friday, December 1.

The cost, per head, for members and non-members will be set when the menu is finalised.

Happy bowling where the most important thing is enjoyment.
