Fanning has day on the green

Stableford Event winner Lyn Fanning and Runner up Janine Morgan.

The stableford event sponsored by Hill Top was played in warm spring weather.

Lyn Fanning played a great game to win A-grade with 38 points and claim two nearest to the pins.

Runner-up was Janine Morgan with 35 points. Balls down the line went to Jan Coe, Deb Reilly, Mandy McGrath and Bev Roberts all with 34 points.

Nearest to the pins went to Lyn Fanning on the third hole, sponsored by Gallery Café, and the 9th (Café A Lofa), Joyce Tavener on the sixth (Tatura Hot Bread) and Lyn Flett on the 14th (One4One Café).

Nine-hole competition: Lois Rogers won two balls and Roylyn Harris one ball.

Free golf lessons: October is golf and bowls month, with free lessons on Sunday at Hill Top. Juniors register for golf at 10.30am for an hour lesson.

Women should register at 12.45pm, with golf played from 1pm to 2pm.

Free bowls lessons will also be offered on the day.

Juniors register at 11.45am and bowl until 12.45pm.

Everyone else register at 2pm and bowl from 2.15pm to 3.15pm.

Pennant golf begins with a home game against Mooroopna. Good luck to all the girls playing.

Country Week: Congratulations to the Goulburn Murray Association’s women’s team, which won division one at Country Week against plenty of talented opposition. The win was extra special, as the women had not won at this level since 1980.

Terri Wangeman was one of the caddies who undoubtedly gave plenty of support to the players.

Congratulations also to the Goulburn Murray men’s team, which won division two unbeaten.

Hill Top Golf members were saddened to hear of the passing of our founding member Beryl Gray. Our condolences are extended to her family and friends.
