Merrigum bowls

October 11, 2017

Merrigum Golf Club will celebrate its 50-year milestone on Saturday.

The club will celebrate 50 years of bowls at Merrigum on Sunday.

It is only a very short time since the previous reunion Back To Merrigum was held, so we envisage this function will be done in a similar way to the ‘back to’ function.

There has been a marvellous response to invitations so far and it is not too late if you would like to join us. Phone Maureen on 58552421.

The cost of the meal will be $25 and the event will begin about 11.30am, with the meal by 12.30pm.

Following the meal there will be the opportunity to have a game of bowls. No uniforms are necessary.

On Thursday night we hosted our friends from Hill Top Golf and Country Club and enjoyed games of bowls and a delicious meal served up by the club, which is also available every Thursday night at 6pm at a cost of $8 for non-members and $6 for members.

We always have two courses and you can be assured of a very relaxing evening.

Should you wish to learn to bowl you are most welcome.

There is a big possibility that Hill Top will return for a Christmas function.

Special thanks to Trevor Downie for his help with the organisation.

Mid-week got off to a good start on Tuesday when it hosted Shepparton Park and won on two rinks and by 12 shots overall.

Donna and Carol were our successful skippers. Lee led nearly all day but was narrowly beaten.

This Saturday at 1pm will be the final pennant practice before the Saturday pennant season begins.

It is very hard for the selectors to pick two teams when they haven’t seen all the players on the greens for practice.

The first selectors’ meeting will be at 5.30pm on Monday at the club rooms.
