Merrigum bowls

October 04, 2017

Merrigum Bowls Club's mid-week team started the season's pennant matches yesterday, hosting Shepparton Park.

The mid-week team started its pennant matches yesterday when it hosted Shepparton Park.

On Thursday there will be a visit from Hill Top Golf Club for a practice match and a meal.

Play will be from 4.30pm to 6pm.

Those who still feel like playing after dinner, you will be most welcome to come out and enjoy our visitors’ company.

There is no need to wear uniforms and there is no charge for this event.

We still need more Merrigum players to make up sufficient numbers for the evening so phone Joe on 0428552466 if you can play.

The caterers would appreciate any donations of sweets or salads for this Hill Top visit.

On Saturday there will be an inter-club pennant match starting at 1pm.

Women and men are all most welcome.

The selectors really need to see who is available and who can potentially fill the vacancies in division four.

The club has lost some players, so this will be your chance to gain the selectors’ attention.

Please make every effort to be at this practice. There is no need to wear uniforms.

The pokies trip to Tocumwal is on Sunday, with the bus leaving Kyabram at 9am and from Merrigum at 9.15am. To reserve a seat please phone John on 0447711842.

The club will celebrate 50 years of bowling at Merrigum on Sunday, October 15.

Members will gather at 11.30am for a chat and lunch. Cost is $25.

All past players and their partners, children and friends are invited.

We believe we have contacted all our past members but if we have missed you, please phone Maureen on 58552421.

Following the lunch we hope to have a game of bowls, so please keep this in mind.

Our Saturday pennant begins on October 21 and we wish all clubs and bowlers a happy and enjoyable season.

Best wishes to Rita, Wendy and Robert, who are on the sick list at the moment.

— Young Joe
