Dance returns to Dookie - Sionnie Kelly

September 21, 2017

Frank Palmer and Norma Dreher watch on as Dorothy Hoare and Baden Moulsdale prepare to dance.

A night of dancing and fun awaits those attending the Dookie Community Olde Time Ball this month.

The town’s memorial hall has hosted many balls, but it has been about six years since it last hosted the popular event.

For long-time ball attendees Dorothy Hoare, Baden Moulsdale, Norma Dreher and Frank Palmer it is great news the ball is on again.

Ms Hoare said past balls had been excellent events to attend.

‘‘We’ve had a wonderful time — a great time — and the floor was good, the food was good, the people were good, the music was good and you couldn’t fault it,’’ she said.

‘‘It was a great night to dance,’’ Ms Dreher said.

The ball will include a range of different dances such as the Pride of Erin, tango, the evening three-step and the foxtrot.

Ms Hoare said what made the ball so much fun was the music and dancing.

‘‘If you’re a dancer it just gets in your blood and you just love to dance,’’ she said.

■The Dookie Community Olde Time Ball is on Saturday, September 23, from 7.30pm at Memorial Hall, Mary St, Dookie.

Entry is $10 at the door or tickets are available by phoning Suzie Hall on 0428765893.

People attending are asked to bring a plate of supper to share.
