Hill Top women's golf

The colourful group of golfers who played on Captain's Day.

Euroa Bowl winners Di Day, Sheryl Curran and Robyn Downs.

Oh, what a fun day we had on Captain’s Day, starting with everyone dressed in colourful regalia, as requested by Captain Bev.

Players were issued with a sheet of paper on which Bev explained how to play her fun game.

Many holes were changed to par 3s, and one hole required players to hit from the men’s 12th tee to the 11th green. Lyn Flett found an extra challenge as she discovered her ball suspended in a branch on the way to the green.

The stroke round brought lots of confusion and challenges, which were rewarded with many prizes generously provided by Bev.

Husband Dave was up early to set up the course and deliver yummy hot dogs to the many appreciative players.

Terri Wangeman spoke on behalf of the members regarding Bev’s two years of hard work, friendship and generosity.

Members showed their appreciation by the giving of many gifts.

Lynda O’Shannessy was the run-away winner with 34 nett and the runners-up were Di Ballantyne 42 nett and Pat Serra 43 nett.

The nine-hole winner was Lois Rogers on 21 nett.

Nearest to the pins went to Liz Mulcahy on the third, Gail Meneilly on the sixth, and Deb Reilly on the ninth.

Awards: Fancy dress — Robyn Downs and Francis Mark with her stripy socks; In the Sand — Colleen Johns; In the Trees — Judy Baker; Ooh-ah Putts — Gail Meneilly; In the Water — Bett Jeffers; Over the Green — Roylyn Harris; Nearest to the Bunker on Eighth — Lynda O’Shannessy; Shortest Drive First Hole — Kerry Gross; Longest Drive Fourth Hole — Heather Long; and Moments Like These — Sheryl Curran.

Last Thursday three teams from Hill Top travelled to Euroa to play in their bowls event.

The Hill Top team of Robyn Downs, Sheryl Curran and Di Day survived a three-way countback to win the event with 105 points.

Congratulations, girls, on a great win.

Wednesday’s event: Stableford: Kath Flanagan.

Teams event: Draw for Partners: sponsored by Patricia Warnett.

Nine-hole event: Stableford, back nine.
