Places of interest, great places to eat and all that Tatura has to offer can now be found in one place — the new Map of Tatura and Tatura and District maps.
Launched at the Tatura Irrigation and Wartime Camps Museum last week, the map was completed by dedicated community member Evert Worm.
With the support local business sponsorship, Mr Worm designed the double-sided map where one side features the township only and the other has wider district areas.
‘‘It’s been a journey for me; I started the project in January this year,’’ Mr Worm said.
‘‘I hope that the people of Tatura can benefit from this.’’
The ceremony was attended by Tatura business owner John Lovel from Tatura newsXpress who congratulated Mr Worm on his hard work.
‘‘Sometimes people have these ideas and do nothing with it,’’ he said.
‘‘So congratulations to Evert for having the foresight and energy to see the project through.’’
Mr Lovel said several businesses came on board as sponsors to help to cover costs.
‘‘It doesn’t surprise me that so many businesses embraced it,’’ he said.
Mr Worm said all proceeds from the maps would go back into the Tatura Museum where copies will be available for free.
He and Mr Lovel said they also discussed the fact that Tatura was expanding during the planning stages.
‘‘On the next issue we’ll just keep updating it,’’ Mr Worm said.
This was the first map of its kind for the township.
