Rapt with donation

Tatura VICSES unit controller Stephen Tuck receives a donation from Tatura Lions Club's Doug Tuhan.

Two of Tatura’s emergency service providers received a donation from the Tatura Lions Club in recent weeks as part of their general fundraising efforts.

Tatura Lions Club’s Doug Tuhan said the club donated $1000 to the Tatura VICSES Unit.

‘‘I visited the unit last week and was quite amazed at the equipment they’ve got in there,’’ Mr Tuhan said.

‘‘They’re a well-organised unit.’’

Unit controller Stephen Tuck said they had dealt with the Tatura Lions Club in the past.

‘‘So we’re very aware of the great work they do in the community,’’ Mr Tuck said.

‘‘We’re really honoured to receive such a generous donation from them.’’

Deputy Controller Justin Maskell agreed and said the funds would make a big difference to the unit.

‘‘We’re presently raising funds towards replacing one of our support vehicles, so that we can respond more effectively to callouts,’’ Mr Maskell said.

‘‘The Lions Club’s donation will get us much closer to our fundraising goal.’’

Mr Tuhan said newly appointed Lions Club president Bill Milner also visited the Tatura Fire Brigade recently and presented them with a $500 cheque.

He said the funds were raised through wood raffles, community barbecues and more.
