Tatura Police have commended a witness who alerted them to a man illegally dumping household rubbish. The man was given a penalty notice and fine.

Tatura police have commended a member of the public for calling them after a local man, 69, was seen dumping rubbish along Tatura-Undera Rd, near the intersection of Pyke Rd, Tatura.

‘‘A witness observed an elderly man dumping a quantity of household rubbish including a vacuum cleaner on the side of the road,’’ Tatura police Sergeant Darryl Phillips said.

‘‘Through the good work of the witness we were notified and he was issued with a penalty notice and fined $317.’’

Sgt Phillips condemned the dumping and encouraged members of the public to write down the registration, time, date and location of rubbish dumpers and urged them to notify police as soon as possible.
