The Tatura Men's Shed is hosting a fundraiser to update its kitchen facilities. Dennis Watts, Alex Carter, Robert Knight, Tom Maher and Frank Hooper are pictured after cooking in the kitchen some years ago.

The Tatura Men’s Shed is encouraging the community to come along to its major fundraiser — an evening of great food and music — to help fund its new kitchen.

To be held in the Italian Social Clubrooms, guests will get to enjoy two styles of pasta — a main or vegetarian.

Tatura Men’s Shed’s Gary Hopcraft said the club would also provide soups and dessert, making it a delicious three-course-meal at a cost of $30 per person.

‘‘To add to the atmosphere, we have brass and woodwind band The Splinters providing the entertainment,’’ Mr Hopcraft said.

Mr Hopcraft said the Men’s Shed took on a variety of activities throughout the annual calendar, but the highlight included a special lunch for members every Tuesday.

‘‘On average, 30 men enjoy the hearty meal, prepared by members, in a relaxing atmosphere,’’ he said.

‘‘But it is time to replace the old donated or scrounged cooking appliances with more modern, energy-efficient, safer-to-use and easier-to-operate equipment.

‘‘A stainless steel workbench for preparation and serving with storage cupboards will replace the old improvised bench as well.’’

The major fundraiser will be held at the Italian Social Club, Martin St, Tatura, on Friday, October 20, from 6.30pm.

Bookings are essential and can be made in tables of 10. There is a maximum of 100 people.
