Reg Poole will perform at Harston Memorial Hall next weekend for the annual country music concert.

Event organisers are gearing up for next weekend’s annual Reg Poole Country Music Concert at the Harston Hall to warm the community up after the winter time blues.

The concert will be hosted by the Golden Guitar winner who will perform old-time favourites with a sing-a-long or two.

Harston Memorial Hall committee member Heather Stuart said the concert would also include guest artists Kim Ritchie, J R Williams and John Mathewson.

‘‘Kim enjoys entertaining her audience with a mixture of country, gospel and rock, at times interspersed with a touch of comedy,’’ Ms Stuart said.

‘‘She has produced a number of albums... as a blind performer, music is her life.’’

Ms Stuart said J R Williams had hosted the Victorian/National Country Music Awards, broadcast all over the country.

‘‘John Mathewson is a country artist who comes from nearby Kyabram,’’ she said.

‘‘His repertoire includes old and modern country music and of course some 1950s and ’60s rock ’n’ roll.’’

Ms Stuart said each artist would showcase their individual style with the night promising to suit all country music fans.

‘‘Proceeds go towards improving and maintaining our old-time country hall of which the committee are most proud,’’ she said.

‘‘Come along and enjoy the night; we would love to see you there.’’

The concert will be held at the Harston Memorial Hall on Saturday, August 19, from 7.30pm.

■Tickets cost $20 and are available from Generations Op-Shop, 119 Hogan St, Tatura, or by phoning Sally on 0447581660 or Heather on 58548377.
