The Rushworth Prospecting Club enjoyed 10-year birthday celebrations in the Rushworth bush last weekend.
A circle of friends surrounded the wood fire as stories of the past and hopes for the future dominated conversation.
Club members are mainly from north-east Victoria and enjoy gold detecting in the general area and extending themselves to the Wedderburn and Golden Triangle gold fields.
The gold is as elusive as ever, but the fun of the chase is deep within those eager detectors.
Small amounts are regularly found, but the dream is always for the big nugget.
The club’s founding and current president Jim Bartlett said membership had remained steady during the 10 years since establishment and there was always great interest in gold searching and enjoying the Australian bush.
