Tatura has a new weekend market, but organiser Jody Vincitlorio promised it would not be for everyone.
‘‘There are no plants, no doilies and no baked goods, so it’s not your average market,’’ Mr Vincitlorio said.
‘‘It’s just man stuff.’’
Dubbed the ‘Man Cave Madness Garage Sale’, the monthly event started earlier this year as a way for him to get rid of some of his excess goods.
Realising one man’s trash is another man’s treasure, he put the word out for people interested in specialty markets, dedicated to man caves.
A handful of stallholders turned up to the first event, but gradually the word has been spreading around Tatura and beyond the Goulburn Valley.
Last weekend, 13 stallholders were set up, selling everything from old records, beer cans, and furniture made from parts of old cars and machinery.
Mr Vincitlorio said the popularity of man caves was attributed to men just wanting a special place close by to chill out.
‘‘People build their shed and have the boys around,’’ he said.
‘‘If it’s a big cave or a little cave it is still a little escape.’’
Stallholders are charged $10 a stall, with the proceeds going towards the upkeep of the Tatura Scout Hall.
The Man Cave Madness Garage Sale is on the last Sunday of each month from 9am at the Tatura Scout Hall on Martin St.
