The Shepparton and district winter competition’s second round of home-and-away matches were played recently when the combined Dhurringile/St Brendan’s Section One team took on Shepparton Lawn at the Dhurringile Tennis Club.
The opposition was impressed with the synthetic courts and the surrounds at Dhurringile Recreation Reserve.
The winter weather was kind on the day with great tennis displayed by all on the court, along with a fantastic spread of afternoon tea, which is what tennis is all about — getting together and socialising.
Before we know it the summer competition will be upon us, so if you are wanting to get into social tennis please contact Dhurringile Tennis Club.
Dhurringile will also be hosting the ANZ Tennis Hot Shots thanks to the Our Sporting Future Funding Grant Scheme.
This will be the second year the event has been held thanks to the grant funding made available through Greater Shepparton City Council and the volunteers at Dhurringile Tennis Club.
ANZTHS is Tennis Australia’s official development program for primary-school-aged children.
ANZTHS uses tailored equipment including smaller nets, racquets and low-compression tennis balls.
This ensures children are introduced to tennis in an environment which is suited to their age and skill level and makes learning tennis fun and easy.
ANZTHS is a free, eight-week community play program held at the Sacred Heart Parish tennis courts.
The program will begin on Monday, July 31 from 3.30-4.30pm.
Bookings are essential.
Dhurringile Tennis Club will also host its official open day on Friday, October 6 as part of Seniors Week.
