Tatura VICSES and community members will come together tomorrow to take part in a blood donation drive.
Running in conjunction with the Tatura VICSES Unit’s efforts in the Australian Red Cross Blood Service National Emergency Service Blood Challenge Red 25, the unit asked members of the public to join them.
‘‘Their donations won’t go toward our unit’s tally in the challenge, but we thought it’d be a great way to come together for a great cause,’’ unit controller Stephen Tuck said.
The blood challenge runs from June 1 through to August 31.
‘‘This winter police, fire services, ambulance services and the SES are again competing by state and by service to give the most blood donations during the Emergency Services Blood Challenge 2017,’’ the challenge website read.
‘‘Last year they made an amazing 8145 donations altogether; sine each donation saves up to three lives, that’s up to 24 400 lives saved.’’
Mr Tuck said the VICSES was all about helping people and trying to preserve lives and this was just one more way the service could help out.
The team will get together tomorrow afternoon to donate in Shepparton.
