Greater Shepparton police Inspector Haydn Downes is hosting community safety meetings this month and next.

A community safety meeting will be conducted by police in Tatura later this month to address any concerns residents may have.

Greater Shepparton police inspector Haydn Downes said the meeting was all about the community interacting with the police.

‘‘We get to understand what the community wants and it give us an opportunity to address their issues,’’ he said.

Insp Downes said the forum would provide an opportunity for individuals to have their voices heard in a public space.

‘‘We would like to do them every year ... because they’re very helpful,’’ he said.

The meeting comes after a similar forum held in October last year, conducted by Victoria Police, to hear the community’s concerns regarding a lack of police.

Police officer numbers were restored at the Tatura Police Station in recent months.

The meeting will be held at Victory Hall, Hogan St, Tatura, on July 27 starting at 7pm.

A second forum will be held in Mooroopna at the Seniors Hall, Mooroopna Library, on August 2 starting at 7pm.
