Merrigum Bowls Club chairman John Firmer delivers a bowl.

The annual meeting was held on June 21 at Merrigum Bowls Club rooms.

Board of directors chairman John Firmer thanked all members for the contribution they made to the club during the season.

The club was in a sound financial position thanks to the work of all concerned and to secretary Maureen Shepherd for her work in obtaining grants for the club.

He was pleased with the new floor coverings and announced a new grant to have internet available for the sending in of pennant results and associated work.

John was thanked for his tireless work as our leader.

As the number of nominations did not exceed the number of vacancies it was not necessary to hold an election. John Firmer, Lee Chant, Rob Dennis, Barry McMeeken and John Bailey were elected for a two-year period.

Life member Stan Coldwell took the chair for the election of the executive.

The results were John Firmer as chairman, Joe Chant deputy chairman, Maureen Shepherd secretary and Pat Hubble treasurer.

The chairman announced that Robert Carver had been granted a Life Membership. All members showed their appreciation of the contribution ‘Chatter’ has made to the club over many years.

It is good to see Graeme Hubble up and about after his surgery and we all hope Abby Earl will soon be feeling better and able to come out and have a bowl with us.

The next Pokie Trip is to Mulwala Ski Club on Sunday, July 23. The bus leaves Ky at 9am and Merrigum at 9.15am. All are welcome to join us for a fun day out. Cost is just $5 for a two-course meal and the bus trip. Phone John Firmer on 0427947165 if you would like to join us.
