Under-17s

The score in this game certainly did not reflect the way the girls played as a team.

Tatura once again had three girls from our junior club — Tatura Netball Association — take to the court against Rochester.

Hayley Rennie, Lucy Somers and Molly Cox played some impressive netball and certainly held their own in the Goulburn Valley Netball League.

There were some fantastic passages of play down the court, resulting in accurate goals from both shooters — Rylee Stammers and Chloe Miller, who teamed well in the goal circle as well as making space down the court when needed.

Hayley Rennie showed some great defensive skills and was able to intercept the ball on many occasions.

Molly Cox and Lucy Somers ran the midcourt and displayed great passing skills into the goal circle.

Although the girls did bring home the four points, they wore the red, white and blue proudly and at no stage did they drop their heads.

They all played a great team game until the final bell.

Rochester 64 defeated Tatura 32.

Best on court: Rylee Stammers, Chloe Miller and Molly Cox.

B Reserve

Rochester was strong and tall in both their defensive and attacking circles.

This made it tough for the Doggies, particularly when Jacinta Turgoose went down with an ankle injury.

Tatura had strong drives, but unforced errors and accurate shooting from the Tigers allowed for a convincing victory.

Rochester 49 defeated Tatura 14.

Best on court: Jade Kay, Sarah Nihill and Kerri-Anne Wark.

B-grade

It was a better start to the game with Tatura putting pressure on the Rochester team all over the court.

An ankle injury to Fin Smith in the first quarter resulted in Stephanie Brisbane taking the court.

Alison Roest worked hard in defence taking intercepts and rebounds to enable the Tatura team to have some great passages of play, finished off by accurate shooting by the goalers Tahlitha Samkakai and Chloe Lowden.

However, tight defensive pressure along with disciplined netball saw Rochester hold onto the four points with an impressive display of accuracy from goalers at both ends of the court.

Rochester 59 defeated Tatura 25.

Best on court: Tahlitha Samkakai, Stephanie Brisbane and Chloe Lowden.

A-grade

It was a fast-paced game from both sides which saw Tatura take the lead early in the first quarter. However, Rochester provided tight defensive pressure all over the court which led Tatura to be less patient with the ball, resulting in turnovers.

Roey Johnstone and Emma Ryan teamed well in the goal circle and shot their highest score for the season so far. Taylor Rokahr tried hard in the midcourt after playing a full game in B-grade.

Molly Boyle took some great rebounds in the defensive circle against some tall and accurate attackers which was the difference in the end.

During the last quarter, Tatura got within three goals but was unable to come away with the win

Rochester 53 defeated Tatura 47.

Best on court: Emma Ryan, Roey Johnstone and Taylor Rokahr.
