Healthy Harold was welcomed to a Tatura school last week to promote the benefits of Life Education.
The celebrity giraffe talked to students at Sacred Heart about life-affirming behaviours and relationships.
For almost 40 years Life Education Victoria has focused on schools to highlight behaviour or environments, food and nutrition, personal safety and physical activity.
In this digital age Harold and crew also zone in on cyber safety as well as safety with medicine and legal drugs, tobacco, alcohol and caffeine.
Educator presenter Rebecca Dickson said the two classes she and Harold had spoken with so far at Sacred Heart were ‘‘fantastic’’.
‘‘The Healthy Harold experience is really interactive and hands-on,’’ Ms Dickson said.
‘‘We talk about the digestive, respiratory and circulatory systems and about health, drugs mental health and cyber safety.
‘‘The kids absolutely love it, hearing it from a different person and experiencing different activities.’’
Sacred Heart assistant principal Matt Cameron said Healthy Harold was a useful tool to develop socially and emotionally-well kids.
‘‘It’s about being good decision makers and understanding relationships,’’ he said.
‘‘When the truck rolled up all the kids were so excited.’’
