Tatura Sacred Heart Primary School students collected more than 350 items, which will be donated to the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal.
Sacred Heart School deputy principal Matt Cameron said students had heard the call to never see a need without doing something about it.
‘‘Each class has been busy collecting donated goods,’’ Mr Cameron said.
‘‘These donated goods will be distributed to families in the local Tatura area who are in need of a helping hand.’’
Mr Cameron said students participated in the appeal each year when the weather started to turn cold.
‘‘The action of giving through the winter appeal aligns closely with the traditions and history of Sacred Heart,’’ he said.
‘‘Through the appeal, students further develop values of compassion, respect and hope by praying for and collecting for people who might be in need of food or blankets to keep healthy and warm during winter.’’
Foundation and Year 1 students classified and counted the goods, which included soups, pasta, cereals and tea/coffee.
