An event celebrating the good work and camaraderie of Greater Shepparton City’s Men’s Sheds was held last week in Tatura.

Greater Shepparton City Council community liaison officer Heather East said she and a small organising committee arranged for the event to be held.

Organising committee member and Tatura Men’s Shed secretary Robert Knight said the event was a pilot to see what kind of interest they would receive.

‘‘I’ve been surprised by the amount we’ve got,’’ he said.

‘‘I think there’s about 70 men here.’’

Ms East and Mr Knight were joined by Shepparton Men’s Shed’s Gary Gray and Mooroopna’s Alan Parker in organising the event which was attended by eight sheds.

‘‘We’ve got Shepparton, Tatura, Murchison, Dookie, Katandra, Tallygaroopna, Katandra West and Codger’s Capers,’’ she said.

‘‘It’s a mixture of emerging sheds and ones that are well established.’’

Mr Knight said it was a great way of encouraging fellowship between the sheds.
