Personal trainer Tayler Hocking is used to a good workout, but every now and then he puts his body through a workout of a very different kind.
For the past year he has held the record at the Tatura Hotel for the speediest demolition of its signature chicken Parmigiana, with a time of 2minutes 40seconds for the 800g parma, plus chips and salad.
Last Sunday he beat his own record by a full six seconds.
The video of his ‘‘Parmageddon’’ at Tatura Hotel was popular with Shepparton News readers, with many wondering if they could beat his mammoth effort.
Mr Hocking said he encouraged anyone who wanted to have a go, but gave a warning that it was best to wait for the meal to cool down.
‘‘The first time I tried it was so hot that it burnt my mouth,’’ Mr Hocking said.
A fitness fanatic, he does not usually gorge himself on food for laughs, but he decided to give the competition a go after encouragement from his mates.
‘‘I had always been a really fast eater, so they said I should have a go,’’ he said.
So far, the only prize he has received is the glory of being on top of the parma leaderboard.
He hoped his video might encourage a few other parma lovers to pick up their knives and forks and take up the challenge.
‘‘A lot of people said they think they can do it faster, I challenge them to go to the Tatura Hotel and have a crack,’’ he said.
