Dhurringile Tennis Club was awarded the Club and Organisation award at Murchison and District’s Australia Day ceremony two weeks ago.
‘‘I would like to acknowledge the committee for the event and for recognising our efforts in getting kids of all abilities active in sport,’’ club secretary Lisa Niglia said.
‘‘Tennis is a sport where the whole family can participate, socialise and stay active and our ultimate goal is to encourage all children to play tennis with the local and broader community.’’
Mrs Niglia said she would like to thank VicHealth and COGS, through grant funding, because the club had been able to purchase valuable sporting equipment.
‘‘Our message to all kids is to limit your computer gaming time and get outside, get active and play a real a game of tennis,’’ she said.
